Author Investigates Large-Scale Strategies for Conservation, Global Warming, and the Environment

Mark C. Henderson just published a book entitled The 21st Century Environmental Revolution which looks at comprehensive and large-scale strategies for the environment. He argues that such approaches are our best hope of winning the battle for a green future.

According to this new book, simple economic policy changes could result in huge gains for the green agenda and even spark a worldwide environmental revolution. Working from a number of political and economic principles, he develops a comprehensive and large-scale strategy which could address most environmental problems at very little cost.

The book is written for both a general and expert audience. The introduction, table of contents, the author’s blog, and further details are available at the publisher’s website.

Global Warming – What Can We Do to help?
Global warming refers to the increase in average temperature near the earth's surface and in its oceans. Climate change is another term used interchangeably with global warming. However, climate change may encompass other changes in climate besides increases in temperature. In the past century the average air temperature near the earth's surface has increased by around 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit. Various models have attempted to predict how these temperature changes may impact on the future. ...

Its high natural oil content acts as a natural preservative to the wood, so it can be left outdoors for decades. The first outdoor teak benches were made of recycled decking from old sailing ships. Many public parks in England are furnished with such teak benches, some of which are nearly a century old. Teak is more expensive than oth...

Preserve Nature and Make a Sustainable Future for Man on Earth
When many of us think about preserving nature we think of wildlife programs on the television, of cuddly lovable furry animals such as the chimpanzee, the koala bear, panda bears and many others. We also think of the big game of Africa, and the shimmering beauty and amazing diversity of the sea life of our coral reefs. In fact, the understandable popularity of these animals has been such that until recently nature conservation bodies were formed which concentrated almost wholly on such examples ...

  1. Positive review has been received by the Henderson’s book above.

Review was done by David McCorquodale, co-chair of Green Pages (the US Green Party newspaper). It is currently available on the publisher’s website listed above and will be printed in the February 2009 issue of Green Pages (http://www.gp.org/greenpages).

A Quote from the review: “The book has convinced me that the ETS [the strategy proposed in the book] could be an immensely important tool for the environment, but the obstacles are sizable, especially in the United States. Greens’ support for such a strategy may play a critical role in overcoming the odds.“ (David McCorquodale, Nov. 2008).
